While Alabama is enjoying what might be its last year with Jalen Milroe under center, the Crimson Tide appear to be in good hands at the quarterback position moving forward. Five-star Duncanville quarterback and Alabama commit put on a passing clinic on Friday night in a win over DeSoto, a top-10 nationally-ranked team.

Russell completed 27-36 passes in the 42-20 win for 427 yards and six touchdowns. Meanwhile, fellow five-star wide receiver recruit Dakorien Moore caught nine passes for 231 yards and four scores. Moore is committed to Oregon in the class of 2025.

Russell now has over 1,800 passing yards and 25 touchdowns this season. He's been one of the country's most productive high school quarterbacks, and he looks poised to lead Duncanville to a prolific season.

Redshirt sophomore Ty Simpson will likely get the first chance to win the starting job next year, and Alabama may still add quarterback talent via the transfer portal. Still, Russell could push for playing time as a true freshman in Tuscaloosa next fall.
