Calls Mount for NBA Analyst to be Fired After On-Air Meltdown

Sam Mitchell’s tenure on NBA TV could be nearing its end following an awkward and tense exchange with co-host Chris Miles.

The on-air beef between Mitchell and Miles started as Stephen Curry received his gold medal before a preseason matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.

“The coaches don’t get medals,” Mitchell said on NBA Gametime Live . “I guess it just tells you how they value coaches internationally. Not at all.”

Miles responded: "I’m surprised coaches get a paycheck for this show! Maybe you should do it pro bono my friend."

Mitchell, the 2007 NBA Coach of the Year, didn't take too kindly to the comment from Miles and unleashed a fiery rant for the ages.

“Last time I looked at my check, it’s pretty close! So, hey, I’m taking donations! Why don’t you come up with some of that money you got, since you bragging about it," Mitchell said. "Did you rent your beach house in Florida out during the hurricane? How about your townhouse?

“I done told you, young fella, you gotta stop messing with me on national TV. I done told you about that. Hey, do I need to give out the address? ‘Cause you’re not at home right now.”

Later in the show, Mitchell went ahead and revealed the address of Miles' home in Florida, stunning viewers.

"Sam Mitchell crashed out over a joke now he bout to get fired. The NBA is the greatest reality show on TV. Season hasn't even started yet, and we already have drama," one fan said .

"Sam Mitchell is an awful analyst, and to be honest… he should be fired for this," another said .

Others credited Miles for keeping his composure during the wild exchange.

"Hats of to Sam's cohost. Handled that pretty well. Sam Mitchell should be fired tomorrow," another viewer commented .

NBA TV has not released a statement on the incident between Mitchell and Miles. The NBA season will tip off on October 22.
