Blockbuster Trade Proposal Lands Bills $100 Million Weapon for QB Josh Allen

Five games into the season, the Buffalo Bills have the 25th-ranked passing offense in the NFL.

While part of the lack of production can be attributed to parting ways with All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs, much of it has to do with Buffalo not having a true No. 1 receiver for quarterback Josh Allen, who still doesn’t have a strong rapport with any of his pass-catchers.

Multiple reports have indicated that the Bills are looking to upgrade at the receiver position, and the team has been linked to Las Vegas Raiders wideout Davante Adams. However a much more reasonable option is Cleveland Browns WR Amari Cooper, who CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin recently proposed the Bills trade for.

“Maybe the Browns would eat some of Cooper's remaining contract to appease the seemingly disinterested pass catcher,” Benjamin wrote . “Josh Allen would surely sign off if it meant getting a bona-fide No. 1 out wide.”

Buffalo’s leading receiver Khalil Shakir has 18 receptions on 19 targets for 230 yards and two touchdowns, but beyond him, the team’s second- and third-leading receivers are tight end Dalton Kincaid and running back James Cook.

Curtis Samuel, Keon Coleman and Mack Hollins have all chipped in, but no receiver has logged a 100-yard game this year, and only two receivers have topped 60 yards.

Adding a weapon of Cooper’s caliber would instantly give Buffalo’s passing attack some much needed explosiveness.

The five-time Pro Bowler logged 1,250 yards last season while averaging 17.4 yards per reception and ranking second in the league in receptions of 40 or more yards (eight) and 10th in receptions of 20 or more yards (21).
