The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a pivotal early-season matchup against the New York Jets on Monday night.

The Bills and Jets will be playing for first place in the AFC East as they both enter the matchup on two-game losing streaks.

Injuries have continued to stack up for Buffalo during their losing streak, as multiple offensive weapons are questionable heading into the game. However, while the team is dealing with multiple offensive injuries, they could be getting a star back on the defensive side of the ball.

All-Pro slot cornerback Taron Johnson has been a limited participant in practice throughout the entire week. If he practices Saturday, it will be his first full week of practice since Week 1, when he sustained his forearm injury that has sidelined him since.

Although Johnson did practice at the end of last week, he was in a red non-contact jersey. This week, however, Johnson has practiced in full pads as the team has ramped up his workload.

Leading up to the game, coach Sean McDermott was cautious when discussing Johnson's status on Friday.

"He's knocking some rust off. I thought he did some good things in practice. We'll see," said McDermott.

While things are trending upward for Johnson after missing four games, they are trending in the opposite direction for receiver Khalil Shakir and running back James Cook.

Both of them have yet to practice this week with ankle and toe injuries, respectively. It would be Shakir's second-straight missed game, while it would be Cook's first this season.
