Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels are off to a disappointing start to their 2024 college football campaign.

After starting the year at 3-0, the ACC program has dropped three straight losses — including a loss to James Madison in which the defense allowed 70 points at home. Following a heartbreaking loss to the rival Duke Blue Devils in Durham, the Tar Heels fell to the visiting Pittsburgh Panthers this past weekend.

North Carolina took their home stadium again on Saturday for a matchup against the visiting Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Despite a beautiful day in Chapel Hill, the fan support for the struggling Tar Heels was sparse. When the game kicked off at noon ET, the Kenan Stadium stands were nearly empty.

"The crowd here at Kenan Stadium right after Carolina took the field. Empty seats speaking loudly!" Tar Heel Illustrated wrote on X.

"Fans are tired of being let down year after year," one fan wrote.

"Good. People are voting with their feet as it should be….if the Admin doesn’t want to be a serious football program, we will do other stuff with our Saturday," another said.

"They’re lucky I’m watching for free if we’re being honest - ain’t spending a dime on a Mack Brown coached team," another added.

Following Saturday afternoon's matchup against Georgia Tech, the Tar Heels have just two remaining home games. The program will welcome the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Nov. 16 and the NC State Wolfpack on Nov. 30.
