'Everybody Eats!'? Josh Allen Reveals 4-Word Downside To Game Plan

All offseason, the Buffalo Bills offense was the main headline; with a new group of receivers as Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis were moved on, things would be different.

But Buffalo's receivers adopted an "everybody eats" mentality, taking a team-first approach. No one cares who gets the targets, receptions, or touchdowns as long as the team wins.

Well, that was fine in the first three weeks when the Bills were 3-0, but is it different that the team is on a two-game losing streak?

One player who has barely featured is tight end Dawson Knox , who has caught just three passes for 30 yards. However, quarterback Josh Allen says he is still crucial to the offense while highlighting the downside of the "everybody eats" mantra.

“Very important,” Allen said . “We talk about 'everyone eats,' and it's fine and dandy when everybody is, but sometimes there's people that are left out, and you want to continue to incorporate them in your offense.

"(Knox) has been one guy that we got to get going ... I think the whole team knows that, and we're better when 88 is playing well. Just finding ways to get guys the ball and open space, and it starts with me."

"It starts with me'' is, of course, how every offense works with its QB in charge. But yes, those four words are especially true for Buffalo.

The Bills' offense ran like a well-oiled machine through the first three weeks, posting points totals of 34, 31, and 47. However, in the last two games, the machine has started to stutter and splutter, scoring a combined 30 points.

So, while the "everybody eats" mentality served Buffalo well in the early stages of the year? Now, we will get a true test of just how much the offense trusts this approach.

When things aren't going well, players can go into self-preservation mode, and with the New York Jets up next, we are about to see if it "really" is team-first for Buffalo.
