College Football Program Draws Embarrassing Crowd on Friday Night

Arizona State and Utah engaged in a big clash on Friday night to help kick off Week 7 of the 2024 college football season, and it saw the Sun Devils pull out a surprising 27-19 upset victory over the 16th ranked team in the nation in the Utes.

Behind a dominant performance from running back Cam Skattebo, who racked up 158 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries (as well as four receptions for another 41 yards), Arizona State managed to hold off Utah, even though the Utes had Cam Rising under center as he battled through a leg injury.

This result certainly made the Sun Devils and their fans happy, but the problem is that they didn't have many fans in the stands to celebrate with. As noted by folks on social media, Mountain America Stadium had a lot of open seats, despite Arizona State's hot start to the season, and the fact they were playing a ranked opponent in Utah.

Attendance for the game was listed as 45,310, which is pretty good considering the stadium has a maximum capacity of 53.599. However, as seen in the above picture, it does not look like there were nearly that many fans at this game.

It's a shame that Arizona State's strong start to the 2024 campaign, which now sees them sitting pretty with a 5-1 record, appears to be getting ignored by a large section of their fanbase, but so long as they keep on winning games, they likely won't mind all that much.

With this big win over the Utes officially in the books, the Sun Devils will look to keep the good times rolling. They will now shift their attention towards Week 8, where they will face off against Cincinnati in an early game on Saturday, October 19th at 12 PM EST.
