The Oregon Ducks face a tall task when they take on No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday -- and may need to do it without their star defensive end.

The No. 3 Ducks have a chance to make a major statement against the Buckeyes, cementing their chances at a bye in the College Football Playoff. The teams face off in Eugene on Saturday night, the biggest game on the college football slate.

Oregon already had its hands full trying to slow an Ohio State offense averaging 48.8 points and 534 yards of offense per game, and now could be missing defensive end Jordan Burch. The team announced that he would be questionable for the game, with reports indicating he will be a true game-time decision.

As ESPN's Pete Thamel reported , Burch suffered a lower-body injury during the team's practice on Thursday and initial signs didn't look good.

"Burch suffered a noncontact lower-body injury while going through a practice drill," Thamel wrote. "He was helped from the field and appeared to be in considerable pain, sources said."

Burch is seen as one of the nation's top defensive lineman, racking up five sacks, seven tackles for a loss and four deflected passes this season, Thamel added. Oregon comes into the game ranked No. 10 in total defense and No. 21 in scoring defense.
