LeBron James Facing Backlash for Bronny James Request

LeBron James is teaming up with his son, Bronny James, on the Los Angeles Lakers for his 22nd season in the NBA, and it's safe to say this duo is going to be the subject of much fanfare during the upcoming 2024-25 NBA campaign.

Despite enduring a rocky season at USC after he suffered cardiac arrest in August of 2023, Bronny declared for the 2024 NBA Draft, where he ended up getting selected by the Lakers with the 55th overall pick.

Bronny has lots of potential, but he isn't believed to be ready for the NBA, with folks saying he only got picked by LA because of LeBron. The Lakers star didn't do much to help get rid of that notion when he posted on X, formerly Twitter, asking the popular video game "Call of Duty" to give Bronny his own skin simply because he wants one.

For those unfamiliar, you can change the appearance of your player in "Call of Duty" and other video games by unlocking skins. Bronny is known to be a fan of video games, and he wants his own skin in "Call of Duty." At this time, the only other NBA players to have their own skin in the game are Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.

Fans weren't exactly pleased with LeBron trying to get Bronny his own "Call of Duty" skin, and he quickly faced quite a bit of backlash on social media for the request.

@KayvonOjulari remarked "You already got him into the NBA how much more does he need?"

@_utilitysports said "This is not going to help the narrative," in response to the claims that LeBron gets Bronny whatever he wants.

@mercsogyny hilariously referred to LeBron as Bronny's "genie" in that he can grant him whatever wish he makes.

However, given LeBron's big name, and Bronny's video game background, there's a decent chance that "Call of Duty" could see this as a big opportunity and give into the request.

So while it will be worth tuning into the Lakers remaining preseason slate to see how both LeBron and Bronny fare, it looks like folks will have to keep an eye on this developing storyline to see if "Call of Duty" ends up granting James' request.
