Running back Nick Chubb is just about ready to roll, and his return to the field can't come soon enough for the struggling Cleveland Browns (1-4).

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported on Saturday, October 12, that the Browns have made their final call on when Chubb will play his first game since September of 2023.

"With the Browns designating Chubb to return from the physically unable to perform list on Oct. 3, his 21-day practice window is narrowing, and he’s expected to come bolting out of the tunnel next week against the [Cincinnati] Bengals and play for the first time since suffering the injury in Week 2 of last season in Pittsburgh," Cabot wrote .

Chubb sustained a devastating knee injury against the Steelers that required multiple surgeries to repair, and the last 20 games (plus this Sunday's contest against the Philadelphia Eagles ) aren't the only things it cost him.

Cleveland initiated a restructure to Chubb's contract over the offseason, which dropped his guaranteed money to just over $2 million this year in the final season of a three-year deal that was originally worth more than $36 million total.

The Browns added a performance-based incentive structure to the new agreement so that Chubb could earn back most of what he gave up, though sitting out the first six games of the year will make that difficult.

Chubb was a four-time Pro Bowler across his first five seasons in the NFL before suffering the knee injury at the beginning of his sixth professional campaign.

He has tallied 6,511 yards and 48 TDs on the ground as well as 123 receptions for 1,011 yards and 4 TDs through the air across 77 regular season games, which include 70 starts, during his career.

Hopefully he won't be the victim of another cheap shot, like that sorry P.O.S. Steeler, at least he got what he deserved the very next game!
