Russell Wilson Gets Bad News on Future With Steelers

Russell Wilson is fully healthy for the first time this season, but unseating Justin Fields as the Pittsburgh Steelers' starting quarterback may prove to be an "impossible" task.

Wilson joined the Steelers this offseason after being released by the Denver Broncos and initially secured the starting job. However, a lingering calf injury sidelined the eight-time Pro Bowler, paving the way for Fields to start the first five games. With Fields gaining momentum, Wilson faces a challenging road back to reclaim the position, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

"It’s been made clear to me over the last few weeks that the locker room and coaching staff in Pittsburgh love Fields," Russini said . "So while the big question hovering over every game has been, 'Will Mike Tomlin make the switch to Russell Wilson now?,' based on my read, the momentum Fields has built might make it impossible for a healthy Wilson to reclaim that spot at the top of the depth chart."

Tomlin named Fields the starter this week against the Las Vegas Raiders. He noted Wilson is healthy but is still knocking off some rust.

“Health and rust are two different things,” Tomlin said.

Fields has done well in his five starts, but he still has room for improvement. The former first-round pick has amassed 961 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.

I'm not a big Russell Wilson fan but I'm wondering what B.S. they told him at the beginning when he signed on with Pittsburgh...Just seems very fishy to me ..It's not like Fields has been tearing it up on the field throwing for tons of yards and TDs...just seems weird
