Bills' Sean McDermott Reveals 'Respect' For Jeff Ulbrich Ahead Of Jets 'Challenge'

Division games always have a little extra spice, and for the Buffalo Bills' AFC East showdown with the New York Jets, there's now another layer.

With the Jets surprisingly firing head coach Robert Saleh midweek, defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich now takes over, and the Bills have to be cognizant of this.

Why, you say? Because teams generally see a slight uptick in performance in the few games after a coach is fired, Buffalo has to be aware that New York could come out swinging for the fences.

Regarding Ulbrich, Bills head coach Sean McDermott has nothing but kind words for his counterpart.

“A lot of respect for him as a player years ago and then also a lot of respect for him as a coach, what he's done with that defense,” McDermott said . “We look forward to the challenge.”

It was already looming as a tough task for the Bills, who, after a 3-0 start, are now on a two-game losing streak, but with Saleh fired, it adds another storyline to a game that has a lot riding on it as this early stage of the season.

The winner will claim top spot in the AFC East and the Bills have been by far the most consistent team in the division, despite their recent skid and the Jets have underperformed given the preseason expectations placed on them.

This battle won't be for the fainted-hearted, and the Bills know that the Jets, particularly in this game, won't be pushovers.

With a raucous crowd against them, the Bills can't come out of the blocks slow, because this game was a challenge before Saleh's firing, and now with a sense of the unknown surrounding the Jets on both sides of the ball, it has only made things that much more challenging.
