The Buffalo Bills are preparing for a pivotal Week 6 showdown against the New York Jets, but injuries have complicated their path. Head coach Sean McDermott's squad, which has struggled in back-to-back losses, now faces additional challenges as several key players deal with health concerns.

Among those listed as questionable are running back James Cook (foot/toe) and wide receiver Khalil Shakir (ankle). James Cook however has vowed to take the field against the Jets.

However, the biggest blow for the Bills comes on the defensive side. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver, a vital part of Buffalo’s run defense, will miss his second consecutive game due to a hamstring injury. Oliver's absence leaves a hole in the Bills' defensive front , which has been key to stopping the run this season. McDermott will have to rely on depth to try and contain the Jets’ rushing attack, especially in a game that could determine early positioning in the competitive AFC East.

Meanwhile, the Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers, initially listed on the injury report with an ankle issue, has officially cleared it and is ready to go. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich confirmed that despite concerns over his ankle and hamstring, Rodgers will suit up for Monday night’s game.

“There's no consideration that he'd miss time," Ulbrich noted , instilling confidence as Rodgers completed a full practice by the end of the week.

"No consideration'' is a key for the struggling Jets offense, which won't get better until Rodgers does.

Rodgers’ presence is vital for the Jets, who are coming off a turbulent week with the firing of head coach Robert Saleh and multiple coaching adjustments. Rodgers has dealt with various injuries this season, but through five games, he’s racked up 1,093 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions. Last week, despite throwing three costly interceptions against the Vikings, Rodgers remains the central figure in New York’s effort to bounce back.

The Monday night matchup between Buffalo and New York is critical for both teams as they look to gain ground in the AFC East. While the Bills will need to overcome key absences, the Jets are hoping Rodgers can lead them past their recent struggles and take advantage of Buffalo’s banged-up defense.
