Jim Nantz Declined to Correct Tony Romo's Mistake During Commanders-Ravens

The Washington Commanders are knocking on the door of a huge arrival. They've spent years in mediocrity, even posting a 4-13 record a season ago.

The Commanders haven't had a franchise quarterback in years. That could all change now, as the arrival of LSU product Jayden Daniels -- the reigning No. 2 overall pick -- has helped Washington to a 4-1 start on the season.

All eyes are falling on the Commanders. They're entering a new era and are also establishing their brand as they've since undergone a complete rebranding since the last time they were a consistent club.

Formerly the Washington Redskins, then Washington Football Team, the Commanders have a fresh identity on the field to build a new era under the new branding.

While the changes have been made for years at this point, some pundits, analysts and those working on broadcasts around the NFL still slip up.

With Washington taking on the Baltimore Ravens, in a game which could solidify their arrival, the game has gotten off to a decently slow start. The first touchdown came midway through the second quarter as Derrick Henry punched home a touchdown.

Before the score, though, Jim Nantz and Tony Romo -- both in the broadcast booth -- were talking about the game. Along the way, Romo referred to the Commanders as the Redskins. Nantz declined to correct the mistake.

Romo claimed "the Redskins are lucky" in reference to a play that could have seen Baltimore score. Nantz didn't correct his misuse of the team name.

The club initially retired the Redskins team name in 2020, and they settled on permanently calling the team the Commanders in 2022.
