Everything about the game screamed a frustrating loss.

    Until it didn't.

Behind a near 300-total-yard game from Jalen Hurts, and a 116-yard day from A.J. Brown, the Philadelphia Eagles made the clutch plays necessary to outlast the Cleveland Browns 20-16.

Philadelphia led 10-0 early in the second quarter when a late field goal and a field goal block returned for a touchdown tied the score going into the half.

Coming off the field, chants of "Fire Sirianni" rang through Lincoln Financial Field - a head-turning sign of the team's disappointing showing having struggled to put a way team that lost by over 20 the week prior.

The Eagles would not be deterred, though. Hurts connected with DeVonta Smith for a 45-yard touchdown to regain the lead late in the fourth quarter. Then, when the Birds needed it most, a 40-yard completion from Hurts to Brown sealed the four-point win.

Arguably even more important was the fact that the Eagles did not turn the ball over in the victory while their much-maligned defensive line recorded five sacks in the win.

With the victory and the loss by the Washington Commanders, the Eagles sat just a half-game back of first place in the NFC East with the victory.

Not the kind of performance the fanbase wanted, but the kind that should provide some positivity out of the bye week.
