Titans' Will Levis Draws Backlash After Delivering Serious Injury to Sideline Ballboy

It has been quite a year for Titans quarterback Will Levis, who was handed the keys to the organization here in his second NFL season and has not done much with a Tennessee team that had high expectations after changing coaches and going on an offseason spending spree.

All that, and the Titans are sitting at 1-4.

While Levis is no doubt a bold player, willing to take risks, he has come under fire recently for perhaps taking too many risks. There was the bizarre lateral/pass the attempted to avoid a sack against the Jets, a play that resulted ina  fumble recovered by New York.

Or there was the shoulder injury he suffered against the Dolphins in Week 4, when he attempted to get a first down by diving headfirst.

In Week 6, against the Colts, Levis was facing a second-and-7 play from the Titans 45-yard line late in the first quarter, and wound up scrambling out of the pocket in an attempt to get the first down. He did, but was pushed out of bounds and collided with the ballboy standing on the sideline.

The ballboy had to be carted off the field with what appeared to be a knee injury.

Levis was criticzed for the play immediately after.

Now, it is probably not fair to put the injury all on the shoulders of Levis. He was pushed out of bounds, after all, and running at full speed, it was near impossible to avoid the collision with the ball boy.

In the wider context of weird that keep happening around Levis, though, the injury fit. And it was part of an awful day for Levis that saw the Titans fall, 20-17, to a very beatable Colts team, with Levis recording just 95 yards passing.

And, after all, he probably could have helped the guy up.

This was not his fault but he could have taken time to say that he was sorry. Not just running off the field without a word to the guy.
