Calls Mount for NFL Coach to Be Fired After Controversial Late-Game Decision

The Cleveland Browns had a chance to tie the Philadelphia Eagles late in Sunday's game, driving into Eagles territory with just under four minutes remaining.

But Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski opted to go for a field goal on fourth down, a decision that backfired as the Browns never touched the ball again in the 20-16 loss. The controversial decision is now drawing pushback, with some suggesting that it could be time for the Browns to part ways with their head coach.

The loss dropped the Browns to 1-5, putting them in danger of falling out of playoff contention before the midway point of the season.

For some fans, the decision was reminiscent of the franchise's low point when they won just one game over the course of two seasons between 2016 and 2017.

"Stefanski kicking a FG to go down 4 and not getting the ball back is the moment we went back to being the old Browns," a fan shared on X . "Full on regress to the 1-31 days. Just fire everyone. It’s over"

"This Cleveland Browns team is a total embarrassment," one fan wrote in a post on X . "No improvements at all week after week. Stefanski needs to go."

Others noted that the Browns wasted one of the strongest performances from quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has otherwise struggled this season.

"You can blame Deshaun all you want but he was perfect in the second half of a tied game," a fan posted . "Browns lost this game because of Kevin Stefanski. He's either getting fired and replaced by Mike Vrable or at least he's giving up play calling for the rest of the year."

Stefanski said after the game that the team would be sticking with Watson.
