Browns Coach Gives One-Word Response to Deshaun Watson Situation After Loss to Eagles

The Cleveland Browns will enter Week 7 with a 1-5 record after a demoralizing 20-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Browns offense sputtered once again this season, and quarterback Deshaun Watson was trending on social media after putting up another stinker.

Watson went 16-of-23 passing for 168 yards against the Eagles. Watson and the Browns' offense aided in setting up three successful field goal attempts for nine points.

A blocked Philadelphia Eagles' field goal attempt that was returned for six points accounted for the Browns' lone touchdown in Week 6.

The Browns' offense would have four drives end in a punt against the Eagles.

Per Field Yates of ESPN, the Browns offense is becoming historically bad , as they're the only team in the last 10 years to score under 20 points before Week 7.

"The Browns have now become the first team in 10 years to score under 20 points in each of its first 6 games of the season," Yates posted on X. "Cleveland has now scored once in its last 29 drives."

Following the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked if the Browns would keep Watson as the team's starting quarterback after another disappointing game on Sunday. The Browns fifth-year head coach gave a one word answer to the press.

"Yes," Stefanski said .

Stefanski doesn't appear to have much a choice in the matter after the Browns signed Watson to a five-year deal worth $230 million (fully guaranteed) in the 2022 offseason.

Per ESPN, Watson entered Week 6 with the worst QBR this season. The former Houston Texans star is 106-for-176 passing for 852 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback Jameis Winston is the Browns QB2.

Stefanski has been peppered with questions about Watson's starting status in the previous few weeks as his offense continues to struggle and Watson underperforms relative to the expectations that the front office had when they gave him the $46 million per year contract.

So far, the Browns head coach has decided to defend his quarterback and challenge the team to play better.
