NFL analyst Tom Brady was recently covering the Dallas Cowboys matchup against the Detroit Lions while serving as a color commentator for Fox Sports.

Late in the Week 6 matchup, when Brady and his booth partner, Kevin Burkhardt, were speaking about the best teams in the NFL, Burkhardt asked the league legend who he believes is the No. 1 team in the NFC.

Brady was quick to give credit to one of the teams on the field at AT&T Stadium.

He believes the Detroit Lions are the No. 1 team in the NFC due to their versatility on both ends of the field, especially with an explosive offense that feeds off its run game.

“I think the one we’re watching right now,” Brady said. "Their ability to execute difficult things well. Not only can they run the ball. They have two guys that can run the ball. I think the best offensive line in football.”

The Lions defeated the Cowoys 47-9 in the Week 6 matchup against the NFC foe.

The Lions have arguably the best one-two punch in the backfield with veteran running back David Montgomery and second-year star Jahmyr Gibbs.

In the win over the Cowboys, Gibbs posted 63 rushing yards on 12 carries and 28 yards on three receptions. Montgomery ended the game with 80 rushing yards on 12 carries and one reception.

Both top-level running backs are aided by a couple of stars on the offensive line, like Frank Ragnow and Penei Sewell, both of which have multiple Pro Bowl appearances under their belt.

Detroit was at the top of the NFC last season, falling in the conference championship game to the San Francisco 49ers. The Lions finished the 2023-24 season with a 12-5 record.

They seem to be in line to compete for another conference title during the 2024-25 season currently standing at 4-1 on the year.
