Fans Got Jokes for NBC After Jaguars-Bears Blunder on 'Sunday Night Football'

    By Spencer Ostrow,

Week 6’s “Sunday Night Football” featured the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Giants. The Bengals came into the game at 1-4, while the Giants were slightly better at 2-3.

In a game that didn’t see much scoring, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow did enough to lead the Bengals to a 17-7 win. Burrow made the play of the night, rushing for a 47-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

However, the action on the field wasn’t the only thing fans were talking about. During the game, NBC aired a promo for the Jacksonville Jaguars-Chicago Bears matchup, claiming kickoff is at 9:30 a.m. ET "next Sunday" (Week 7) in London.

The only problem? The game had already happened in Week 6, starting at 9:30 a.m. ET this past Sunday morning.

"Wakey, wakey, it's Sunday morning football," the promo said. "Watch live as Trevor Lawrence and the Jags face Caleb Williams and the Bears. Jaguars-Bears, next Sunday at 9.30 a.m. ET, only on NFL Network.

It appeared as if NBC aired the wrong promo since it mentioned “next Sunday.” While the Jaguars do have another game in London in Week 7, they’ll be facing Drake Maye and the New England Patriots (1-5), not the Bears.

In Chicago's 35-16 win over Jacksonville, Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams had the best game of his young career. The 2024 No. 1 overall pick completed 23-of-29 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns .

When fans noticed the mistake, some of them took to social media to make jokes.

"I got 20 bucks on Chicago!" one fan said.

"the international date line," another wrote.

"Howard Cosell: 'Who goofed, I've got to know!'" added a fan.

"Hammer the Bears," one fan stated.

"SPOILER ALERT: Caleb Williams goes OFF!" added another.

"It could be worse," another fan wrote. "They could’ve promoted the Jaguars-Patriots game next week."

"Sure thing bet: take the Bears minus the points," wrote a fan.
