Stephen A. Smith's Unfiltered Reaction to Cowboys' Blowout Loss Goes Viral

I'm not sure anyone relished the Dallas Cowboys ' 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday more than ESPN's Stephen A. Smith . With his birthday approaching on Monday, it seemed like he got the perfect early gift.

From kickoff to the final whistle, the Cowboys were outmatched in every area. They struggled to stop the run and the pass, failed to advance the ball, and couldn't keep turnovers in check. It was a tough day for Cowboys fans, but Smith didn't hold back in his unfiltered reaction on " First Take " Monday morning.

"[Excessive laughing]... You didn't think you'd see me today, did you? Well, guess what, I'm the birthday boy today." Smith said, "With all the things going on in the world of football, all the things going on in the month of October, right when I needed a spark, right when I needed something given to me, what do they do? They give Jerry Jones the worst loss since he bought the Cowboys in 1989. You can't make it up; you can't make it up. But I'm here for you, Dallas Cowboys fans."

On Monday morning, the clip instantly went viral, surpassing 24,000 views and being shared across multiple social media platforms.

The bulk of the segments on this show have focused on the Cowboys, who currently find themselves in one of the worst spots in the league. After signing long-term contracts for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb , they now sit at 3-3 overall and have yet to win a game at home.

With upcoming games against the 49ers and the Falcons —two teams with elite running games—they haven't shown any ability to stop the run on defense.

This could be a year full of changes for the Dallas Cowboys. However, owner Jerry Jones has no intention of considering firing head coach Mike McCarthy after Sunday's loss, and for now, this is simply the team they have.
