The 2-3 New York Jets have a major opportunity on Monday night when they host the 3-2 Buffalo Bills. With a win, the Jets can take an early lead in the AFC East.

Jets owner Woody Johnson fired head coach Robert Saleh last week in a bid to give the team a spark after a slow start to the season. New York has seen a lot of drama since the offseason.

Part of that drama has to do with star pass rusher Haason Reddick. The Philadelphia Eagles traded Reddick to the Jets for a conditional 2026 third-round pick in April before the 2024 draft.

Reddick has yet to play a game for the Jets as he holds out for a contract extension following an 11-sack season in 2023. When discussing Saleh's firing last week, Johnson implored the All-Pro linebacker to rejoin the team.

"So, Haason, get in your car, drive down I-95 and come to the New York Jets," Johnson said via ESPN. "We can meet you and give you an escort right in the building and you will fit right in and you're going to love it here, and you're going to feel welcome and you're going to accomplish great things with us."

Reddick did not join the team last week. On Thursday, the sports agency CAA announced they would no longer represent the Arizona Cardinals 2017 first-round pick.

Per an announcement on X by Drew Rosenhaus, the sports agent is now representing Reddick.

"Welcome to the family Haason Reddick," Rosenhaus wrote.

Roenhaius hopes the Jets and Reddick can come to an agreement shortly.

"We look forward to working with the Jets to get this resolved as soon as possible," Rosenhaus said ESPN's Adam Schefter. "Haason would like to be a New York Jet for years to come, and our goal is to make that happen."

Per the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Reddick turned down a one-year deal with the Jets earlier in the season that would have given the star pass rusher a pay raise for the 2024 season.
