The LSU Tigers garnered massive attention after quarterback Garrett Nussmeier willed his team to a fourth-quarter comeback, tying the game in the final seconds to send it to overtime after trailing for the entirety of the match. LSU went on to win 29-26 in overtime after Nussmeier connected with star wide receiver Kyren Lacy for the game-winning score.

The Tigers have remained unbeaten since their Week 1 loss to the USC Trojans and have jumped to No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll. They are now facing a tough remaining schedule as they aim to secure a spot in the College Football Playoffs.

On Monday, the SEC announced significant news regarding Garrett Nussmeier's Week 7 performance, naming him the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

Nussmeier finished the night completing 22 of his 51 passing attempts for 337 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, an 110.2 passer rating, and two rushes for 16 yards.

Leading both the game-tying and game-winning drives was the moral of the story, and he has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC as the Tigers continue to be one of the hottest teams in the conference.

On the season, he has tallied 1,989 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, six interceptions, an 82.1 quarterback rating, and a 64.3 completion percentage.

However, despite their 5-1 record, LSU's toughest challenges still lie ahead, with upcoming games against Arkansas , Texas A&M , and Alabama before finishing the season against Florida , Vanderbilt , and Oklahoma . If the Tigers can navigate this gauntlet with either no losses or just one, they will position themselves well for a plausible chance at making the playoffs.

Next three games are all at home in a manner of speaking… Just not going far, a step to Arkansas, a step to Texas, and back home for Alabama…
