Raiders Were Offered Massive Haul in Trade for Maxx Crosby: Report

    By Sean Deveney,

There are times when, watching this version of the Raiders, it feels as though there's really nothing good to cling to, that there is no reliable spot on the field from which fans can be sure there will be top-level effort and production. But then, you remember that Maxx Crosby is still in silver-and-black.

Crosby remains the bedrock player of this roster, the one guy who not only jumps off the tape for his talent, but also brings a nonstop motor and an unquestioned talent level. He's been a Pro Bowler each of the last three seasons, is tied for fifth in the NFL in sacks (5.5) and is leading the league in tackles for loss (nine), a category he led in both 2022 and 2023.

At 27 years old and in his sixth season, Crosby still appears to have a lot left in the tank. But for a franchise like the Raiders, struggling with a thin roster and major needs at quarterback, running back and in the defensive backfield, there is some logic to the idea of cashing out on Crosby and sending him elsewhere for draft picks.

The Raiders are trying to do just that with star receiver Davante Adams. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, they've also been approached about Crosby.

The discussion came up in the wake of the season-ending leg injury to Lions star Aidan Hutchinson. Schefter explained Detroit's options, saying that they are not likely to bring in a major star to replace Hutchinson--and dropping the intel on Crosby in the process.

"I see them looking to make a move but I don't see them giving up multiple (picks) for Maxx Crosby or Myles Garrett or even Haason Reddick," Schefter said. "There are some names out there that will keep coming up. But I don't think the Browns, no matter what spot they're in, no matter how much they could be rebuilding or in a position where they could be moving on from Myles Garrett.

I" think the same thing is true for Maxx Crosby. You heard Maxx talk about his commitment to Las Vegas when he was comapring and contrasting his situation to Davante Adams. And I believe earlier in the year, there might have been a team that asked a team about Maxx Crosby and they floated a (first-round pick). And they said, 'Yeah, you start with multiple ones on that even they, we won't entertain it.'"

Detroit will be drafting in last 1/6th of the draft for the foreseeable future. Would have to be either 3 1st or 2 1st and 2 seconds
