Don't Look Now, Eagles In Prime Position in NFC East

Optics have never been lower for the Philadelphia Eagles.

At least in the eyes of the fanbase. In their case, the team is as bad as any 0-5 group in the NFL.

Despite the lack of excitement from the fanbase, the Eagles are not 0-5 or even 1-4. They are 3-2 and just a half-game out of first place in the NFC East. On a day when the Eagles squeaked by with a 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns, the rest of the NFC East took losses to push Philadelphia closer to divisional supremacy.

The Washington Commanders dropped a tough 30-23 contest to the Baltimore Ravens. Making the loss even more pronounced is Jonathan Allen suffering a torn pec that will cost him the remainder of the season.

Then the Dallas Cowboys lost a 47-9 blowout to the Detroit Lions in a game which Dak Prescott didn't even get a chance to get some garbage time statistics.

Finally, the New York Giants couldn't score much in their 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

There are issues that the Eagles need to resolve. There's no point in denying that. But to say they have been worse than their record says is disingenuous.

Simply put, the team needs to get to the playoffs once again. In their case, they are closer to doing so after Sunday's win.
