The Houston Texans improved their record to 5-1 with a 41-21 blowout win over the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Despite allowing Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye to throw his first three NFL touchdowns, DeMeco Ryans' defense wreaked havoc on the No. 3 overall pick all day. Houston racked up four turnovers, including two interceptions of Maye and a pair of fumble recoveries, as well as four sacks for 34 yards.

However, the NFL's third-ranked defensive unit suffered a surprising loss on Monday.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport , Texans veteran defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. has been suspended following his stellar contributions in Week 6.

"Mario Edwards Jr. of the Houston Texans is suspended four games without pay for violating the NFL’s Substances of Abuse Policy, it was announced today," Rapoport posted on X.

"Edwards will be eligible for reinstatement on November 11 following the Texans’ Week 10 game against the Detroit Lions."

The 30-year-old starter recorded a season-high eight tackles, a fumble recovery, a pass breakup and a quarterback hit against the Patriots.

Now on his seventh team in 10 seasons, Edwards is a former second-round draft pick by the then-Oakland Raiders in 2015.
