The New York Jets' first game without Robert Saleh ended terribly. Against the Buffalo Bills, New York lost 23-20 in an ugly, penalty-filled contest. Many of the same problems that plagued the team during the first few weeks still lingered in Week 6 without Saleh.

Naturally, there was a lot of discourse around the recently fired head coach. There were a lot of comments about the Jets' penalty problems against the Bills. New York committed 11 penalties for 110 yards.

"Robert Saleh was scapegoated and this is what Woody Johnson deserves for thinking firing him would magically change things. All the problems still persist," commented a fan.

"Robert Saleh died so the Jets could lose by 3 to the Bills in a sloppy as s*** undisciplined game at home," ESPN's Greg Wyshynski said , "only it wasn’t really 3 because they needed a Hail Mary to make it that close, so anyway this all sucks and Let’s Go Mets."

Other fans made jokes about Saleh possibly experiencing some schadenfreude after the Jets' tragic loss.

The Jets' lack of discipline, even without Saleh, was noticed by fans.

In the end, this loss has some fans questioning whether firing Saleh was the right decision.

The Jets struggled with penalties all game long. Whether it was the offensive line holding, players lining up wrong, or defenders committing pass interference, New York couldn't catch a break. It frustrated plenty of fans, who thought that firing the head coach could help alleviate those issues.

Saleh was fired after a brutal Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London. That loss sent New York to a 2-3 record, a low record given the high expectations for the team. Despite Saleh's solid track record in New York, even without Aaron Rodgers, the organization felt that it was time to move on.

The Jets now employ Jeff Ulbrich as their interim head coach.
