Jokes Are Pouring In After Klay Thompson Misses All Shots in Mavs-Clippers

Klay Thompson is one of the greatest shooters to ever play basketball. In CBS Sports June 2020 article , he was ranked second to Steph Curry in the Top 15 shooters in NBA history. However, he was not even close to being worthy of that label based on what he showed on the floor Monday night during a preseason game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 34-year-old Thompson could not get it going from anywhere on the field versus Los Angeles. In a performance that was reminiscent of his final appearance in a Golden State Warriors uniform, Thompson went 0-for-9 from the floor and missed all of his six attempts from behind the arc in 21 minutes of action in a 110-96 road loss to the Clippers. He finished with zero points, three rebounds, one assist and a block.

It can be recalled that during a play-in tournament game between the Warriors and the Sacramento Kings last April, Thompson botched all 10 attempts from the floor while going 0-for-6 from deep in 32 minutes. That, of course, turned out to be his final game for the Dubs, as Golden State lost to Sacramento, 118-94.

It was probably just one of those nights for Thompson. One awful shooting performance in what was essentially a meaningless contest shouldn’t define what his outlook is for his first season with the Mavericks.

Acquired by the Mavericks via a sign-and-trade deal involving the Warriors last July, Thompson is a career 41.3 percent 3-point shooter with a 55.0 percent effective field goal rate and 57.4 true shooting percentage.
