Cowboys' Jerry Jones Snaps Back at Radio Hosts in Fiery Exchange

    By Sean Deveney,

If Cowboys owner Jerry Jones deserves credit for one thing in his tenure running the team, it is the fact that he reamins accessible. That could be interpreted, of course, as his need to have his vanity stroked, but the alternative--an owner who hides out in a suite and never faces the media during tough times--is a lot less appealing.

Jones speaks regularly on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, and on Tuesday morning, before heading to an owners meeting in Atlanta, Jones was on the " Shan and RJ " show.

He was clearly aggravated from the beginning, launching in on the hosts almost as soon as they asked their first questions. It was mentioned that the Cowboys faced enormous criticism for a lack of activity in free agency. Jones let loose.

"I remember those criticisms very well. So what? What’s your point, what’s your point?" Jones began .

He was asked whether those criticism have worked out to be true. "Listen, let me tell you what I will do about it. I will let us sit down and look at the decisions we made over the last several years. OK?" Jones said. "I will look at it. If you think I am interested on a damn phone call with you, on the radio, and sitting here and throwing all the good out with the dishwater, you’ve got to be smoking something over there. I’m not."

Jones then proceeded to tell the hosts, Shan Shariff and RJ Choppy, that they should be doing their jobs differently, and threatened to stop doing the show altogether.

"This is not your job," Jones said. "Your job is not to go over all the reasons I did something and I am sorry I did it. That’s not your job. I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions, man. I’m not kidding."

Jones asserted that, if the pair new so much about football, they should probably meet with the other owners in Atlanta.

"You’re not gonna figure out what the team is doing right or wrong—if you are, or any five or 10 like you, you need to come to this meeting I am going to today, there are 32 teams here, you’re geniuses," Jones said. "You really think you’re gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all the things I’ve done wrong?"

The Cowboys are 3-3 as they head into their bye week, coming off a 47-9 drubbing at the hands of the Lions. The Cowboys are 0-3 at home, and have twice been beaten by 25 points or more at AT&T Stadium.
