Fans Are Saying the Same Thing About Blockbuster Davante Adams Trade

After weeks of speculation, the Las Vegas Raiders shipped wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets in a deal reported on Tuesday.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Jets and Raiders completed the deal, which had been rumored since Adams first requested a trade and will reunite the wide receiver with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Jets were sending a conditional third-round pick to the Raiders to complete the deal.

Though the Jets were seen as favorites to land Adams, the trade was still met with some puzzled reactions from fans questioning why Adams would move from one struggling franchise to another.

The Jets were coming off a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football that dropped them to 2-4, two games behind Buffalo for the division lead. The team just fired head coach Robert Saleh and Rodgers has struggled through the early part of the season.

"Good for Davante," a fan shared in a post on X . "Now he can partner with the QB he left because he wasn’t sure about his future. But now 3 years later and off a year ending injury, with a team who just fired their head coach."

"This is exactly the missing piece that the Jets needed to finish the season 7-10," another fan posted .

Others suggested that the addition of Adams won't be enough to move the needle for a franchise struggling behind the 40-year-old Rodgers.

"The Jets trading for Davante Adams is a big deal because if they keep losing, Aaron Rodgers is quickly running out of people to blame it on," wrote Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports .

Even some Jets fans worried that the Adams trade was too little, too late for the team's playoff hopes.

"If the Jets got it done last night this would be a Top 5 Jets day in the last decade," a Jets fan wrote on X . "3-3 acquiring Davante Adams after a win against the Bills in primetime I’m absolutely sick that this team is 2-4"
