Paul George has already shown flashes of quality in a Philadelphia 76ers jersey. But at the same time, he has also shown why some fans are nervous about handing him a four-year, $212 million deal.

George was looking great in the 76ers' preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks and had 8 points, 2 rebounds and an assist in 12 minutes.

Then, many fans' worst fears came true. George seemed to plant his leg awkwardly while guarding Jalen Johnson. He went to the locker room for evaluation and did not return to the bench afterwards.

Naturally, Sixers fans are worried that George has picked up a serious injury. He had plenty of fitness issues during his tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers, which is rumored to be one of the reasons why the franchise were not keen to hand him a mega extension.

Now, there seems to be some positive news regarding George's injury situation and it comes from the man himself.

According to Gina Mizell of The Inquirer , George had a sleeve on his knee but was walking after the game. He said that he had already received some treatment and would see how the knee felt Tuesday morning and “evaluate from there.”

According to the report, George said about the matter: "I reach for [the ball], poked it out.

"Went to go take a step to go kind of burst through, and then my leg kind of hyperextended back. I felt that it hyperextended, and immediately, it was, ‘All right, I need to get taken out and look at this.’

"But if you ask me, I’m not too concerned about it."

That will be music to the ears of 76ers supporters. Of course, we do not have official word yet about the extent of the injury but a veteran like George would surely have an inkling if it was serious or not, and he does not seem too concerned.

This was a timely reminder though that health is going to be a major factor at play when it comes to the Sixers and their Championship hopes next season.

They might have built an impressive roster but there are fitness concerns. George is 34 years of age and has had an injury history. On the other hand, Joel Embiid is set to give preseason a miss this time around as the Sixers look to manage his minutes and try to keep him injury-free as well.
