Aaron Rodgers Sends 4-Word Message to Jets After Blockbuster

Aaron Rodgers is excited about playing with Davante Adams again. But the competitor in him can't ignore the state of the New York Jets. In an October 15 appearance on the Pat McAfee Show , he was blunt in his message to the team: "Now it's go time."

New York is 2-4 following a 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. With a quarterback like Rodgers who's window is only closing, and not opening, each week represents a chance to calibrate the offense for a Super Bowl run. But you have to win, too. Which the Jets haven't been doing much of since he arrived last year.

Some things are trending in the right direction, though, including Rodgers connection with Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson. The two have connected on 21 passes over the last two games, paving the way for Wilson to put up 100+ yards in consecutive weeks.

"I felt like the energy was a little bit better, our focus was a little bit better," Rodgers continued. "We did a couple different things. We wanted to be aggressive in the action game. I felt like we had some good plays in the play-action game...We got Garrett involved early, you know we hit him on a crosser for 24 (yards) to start the first drive off. That was important. We hit him on a keeper action to the left, where he was running the low cross, which was another big gainer."

The Jets are pushing all their chips in the middle, wagering a large part of their cap and their culture on the Adams, Rodgers connection. It will cost them a third-round pick that can become a second-rounder based on conditions, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport . New York is paying all of Adams' $11.59 million salary this season, and are on the hook for the remainder of his deal as well.

"Obviously I'm really excited," Rodgers said told McAfee. "Love Tae, he's a phenomenal player, and a dear friend. It was a crappy day yesterday, obviously. We had a real good chance to get to 3-3 and win a home game, kind of gave that won away. I was pissed driving home through traffic."

Adams and Rodgers connected on 67 touchdown passes over 7,590 yards during their time with the Green Bay Packers, according to The Athletic NFL Staff . Now, as teammates on the Jets, they'll look to build on their resume as a duo.

Adams makes the Jets a wildcard team. But probably a first round exit from the playoffs, if they make it.
