Three New York Yankees players have been named finalists for Gold Glove awards.

Shortstop Anthony Volpe, left fielder Alex Verdugo, and right fielder Juan Soto were named finalists for the award on Tuesday by MLB.

Volpe is a finalist for the second time in his two-year career at shortstop. He won the award in 2023 as a rookie and is now a finalist for the award with Brayan Rocchio of the Cleveland Guardians and Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals. Volpe earned 1.7 wins above replacement at shortstop.

Verdugo played 141 games in left for the Yankees this season. He made just one error in over 1,200 innings at the position. Verdugo posted a 0.1 WAR in the field. Colton Cowser of the Baltimore Orioles and Steven Kwan of the Guardians are the other left-field finalists. Verdugo has never won a gold glove in his previous seven MLB seasons.

Soto strictly played left field in 2023 and was a gold glove finalist at the position with the San Diego Padres. He now joins Wilyer Abreu of the Boston Red Sox and Jo Adell of the Los Angeles Angels as finalists for the 2024 AL Gold Glove for right field. Soto had a negative DWAR in 2024 but only committed two errors in 145 at the position.

The Yankees have had at least one Gold Glove winner in each of the last three seasons. Volpe won the award in 2023 at shortstop. Jose Trevino was the AL catcher to earn the award in 2022. Joey Gallo was named a Gold Glove winner in 2021 when he played for both the Yankees and Texas Rangers.

The Gold Glove winners will be announced on Nov. 3 at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight.”
