Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin Reveals Worst Part About Davante Adams Trade

The Davante Adams trade saga finally came to its conclusion on Tuesday, as the New York Jets agreed a deal to acquire the star wide receiver from the Las Vegas Raiders in return for a conditional third-round draft pick.

The move was reported by NFL Insider Ian Rapoport seven days after the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh, and less than 24 hours after losing 23-20 to their AFC East rivals, the Buffalo Bills, on Monday Night Football.

The 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers were one of the potential trade suitors left empty-handed in the Davante Adams sweepstakes. However, that's not why Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was upset when he spoke about the trade, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter .

“I was getting ready for Davante Adams last week," Tomlin said. "I’m now getting ready for Davante Adams this week.”

Pittsburgh beat the Raiders 32-13 on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium. Tomlin and his team will host the Jets in Week 7 on Sunday Night Football.

There are more issues in the Steelers' passing game than just missing out on a shiny new wide receiver . Russell Wilson's return from a calf injury has opened the debate on whether he will start at quarterback ahead of Justin Fields against the Jets.

Meanwhile, Rapoport said Adams is in a "good place" regarding the hamstring injury that sidelined him since Las Vegas' Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

His potential return would be great news for New York quarterback Aaron Rodgers, albeit the opposite for Tomlin and his defense. Rodgers and Adams connected for 622 catches for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns in the 108 games they played together on the Green Bay Packers.
