Amari Cooper's 3-Word Message on Trade to Bills is Turning Heads

The Cleveland Browns traded Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday, giving him a fresh start with a new offense after a rough start to the year.

The Bills received Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round draft pick in the deal. In exchange for their new No. 1 wide receiver, Buffalo sent Cleveland a 2025 third-round pick and a seventh-round selection in 2026.

The Browns' offense has struggled mightily through their 1-5 start, putting up an NFL-worst 240.2 yards per game. Deshaun Watson’s inconsistent play has made the passing attack tough to watch, taking a noticeable toll on Cooper’s production and leaving fans frustrated with the team’s inability to find rhythm.

Cooper has just 24 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns this season. He made the Pro Bowl a season ago, catching 72 passes for 1,250 yards with the Browns cycling through five different starting quarterbacks. Cooper should see plenty of action in Buffalo with Josh Allen as his quarterback.

Shortly after the trade was announced, Cooper took to social media with a short and cryptic message.

"Move or rust," Cooper said .

Some saw the message as a shot at Watson, with his play being described as "rusty" after missing most of last season.

"So even Amari found the “rust” thing humorous," one fan said .

Others didn't have a problem with Cooper potentially taking a shot at the Browns on the way out after he was part of trade talks for Brandon Aiyuk prior to the season.

"I really wanna be pissed off at Cooper, but I 1000% understand why he is mad. I would be just as pissed too being mistreated like that," another said .

The move marks the third time in Cooper’s career that he’s been traded. The Raiders first dealt him to the Dallas Cowboys in 2018, and in 2022, he made his way to Cleveland through another trade.

Now in a contract year, Cooper's performance this season will play a crucial role in determining the type of deal he can secure in free agency. Although he pushed for a contract extension with the Browns by sitting out minicamp, the team opted not to extend him. Instead, they guaranteed his salary for this season and added performance-based incentives to his deal.
