Whether he is playing for Inter Miami CF or the Argentina National Team, when Lionel Messi stands over a free kick, it is one of the most exciting moments for soccer fans around the world.

Messi, 37, has scored 66 free kick goals for club and country in his decorated career. His dead ball goal tally places him in a tie for third-most of all time, two ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo (64) and trailing only Pele (70) and Juninho (77).

The Argentinian captain was inches away from free kick goal No. 67 in the first half of Argentina's 6-0 win against Bolivia in South American World Cup Qualifying, which eventually saw him finish the match with a hat trick.

The outcome of his free kick left everyone on social media talking about the same thing — the bravery of the Bolivian goalkeeper.

Guillermo Viscarra pulled off a heroic save as the shot arrowed toward the top corner and the crowd at Estadio Mâs Monumental expected the net to bulge. After tipping the ball out for a corner, he slammed into the post face-first.

"That's the price you pay for not giving up," joked a fan on X.

Others placed the blame on Messi, like one fan on X who wrote , "Messi should be banned from taking free kicks."

Viscarra was able to remain in the game following the collision with the post, but his night only got worse. After the remarkable save kept the game at 1-0, Argentina put five more goals past the Bolivian goalkeeper. Messi finished the game with three goals and two assists.
