The New York Jets trade for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams on Tuesday was far from a surprise. However, many things that transpired after the trade was announced left fans across the NFL scratching their heads.

Adams arrived at the Jets' facility roughly 17 minutes after the trade news broke, as The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported. The jokes about how the former Raiders star managed to fly across the country so quickly began flying in.

But considering the likelihood that the Jets and Raiders may have been nearing a deal the day prior, or even before, it was all (mostly) in good fun.

A few hours later, Adams's social media post quickly picked up steam and led to even more questions.

As shown on X , Adams revealed custom Jets-colored cleats ahead of his expected debut when the team faces the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7.

For the second time in one day, questions began flying about this timing and how it was possible Adams had custom Jets cleats made within hours of the deal being announced.

Not surprisingly, fans flooded social media with reactions that didn't disappoint.

While the reactions felt endless, one glaring aspect is worth noting. Adams, who's worn the number 17 with the Raiders and Green Bay Packers, joins a team where his number is already taken.

Fellow wide receiver Malachi Corley, a rookie out of Western Kentucky, is currently No. 17 on the Jets . It remains to be seen how that will play out, but the likelihood of Adams and Corley working out a deal for the 31-year-old to wear the number is pretty high.

The Jets are on a short week after facing the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 6 and will face the Steelers in primetime on Sunday. Even still, Adams appears likely to suit up for the Jets and reunite with his former quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, on Sunday Night Football.
