Aaron Judge has his first home run of the 2924 postseason in his sixth game.

The captain stepped up to the plate with a runner on first and one out in the seventh inning of Tuesday night’s Game 2 of the American League Championship Series. Judge hit a 1-1 pitch over the center field wall, marking his first homer in this year’s playoffs.

The slugger’s blast out the New York Yankees up 6-2. They would go on to defeat the Cleveland Guardians 6-3 and take a 2-0 series lead.

Judge had been held relatively quiet through the first five games of the postseason. He had gone 2-15 with a pair of RBIs before Tuesday. The captain still holds a .167 batting average and .735 OPS after Game 2.

Judge has been held quiet in the postseason throughout his career. He has played in 50 playoff games and has a .206 batting average with a .769 OPS. 2024 is the seventh time that Judge has reached postseason play in his career.

The Yankees offense has been producing despite Judge’s struggles. Giancarlo Stanton has five runs batted in through the playoffs and Juan Soto is 7-20 with a 1.012 OPS. The Bronx Bombers are 5-1 in the postseason and are two wins away from their first World Series appearance since 2009.

Game 3 between the Guardians and Yankees is set for Thursday at 5:08 p.m. at Progressive Field. The Yankees will give the ball to Clarke Schmidt while the Guardians have yet to name an official starter.
