Lions Maxx Crosby Trade Proposal Would Send Draft Haul to Raiders Amid Ramped-Up Chatter

The Raiders are, according to a report from insider Adam Schefter, not taking inquiries on defensive end Maxx Crosby. And for his part, Crosby has expressed no desire to head elsewhere.

But it is trade season in the NFL, and the events of the last few days have put both the Lions and the Raiders under the microscope. Las Vegas on Tuesday traded star receiver Davante Adams to the Jets, signalling a willingness on that franchise's part to begin dealing away pieces so that it can build for the future.

The Lions just lost star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who was in the midst of the best season of his career and the best season of any pass-rusher in the league. Hutchinson broke his leg is likely out until 2025.

Only Monday, in fact, former Lions quarterback and ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky urged Detroit to make the Raiders an offer they can't refuse for Crosby. "Detroit can't waste this opportunity," Orlovsky said on "NFL Live."

Crosby, of course, is a three-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher who has 12.5 sacks in 2022 and 14.5 in 2023. He is fifth in sacks this season, at 5.5.

The Lions have a chance to finally reach the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history. But losing Hutchinson, the heart of their defense, severely hurts their chances.

So the folks at the gambling site FanDuel have concocted a possibly deal involving a package that Detroit could send to the Raiders. In it, the Lions would bring Crosby back to Michigan, for two first-round picks (in 2025 and 2026), plus a fourth-rounder in 2025 and defensive end James Houston.

The Raiders would also send back a sixth-round pick.

The question there is, "Who says no?" The answer is likely the Raiders, who have shown no inkling of trading Crosby, even as the team has stumbled to a 2-4 start in the AFC.

Adam Schefter of ESPN said on the "Pat McAfee Show" this week that the Raiders had been aprpoached earlier in the season by an unnamed team with a draft-pick rich trade offer, but were quickly shot down.

Indeed, the Lions could use Crosby. But there appears to be only a slim chance the Raiders would send him away.
