Everybody's Saying The Same Thing About Warriors' Undefeated Preseason

    By Lance Roberson,

Last season, the Golden State Warriors had two winning streaks of five or more games. Yet, the Warriors couldn't maintain such success, leading to playoff disqualification in the 2024 Play-In Tournament vs. the Sacramento Kings. However, in what could allude to a more cohesive unit for the 2024-25 season, the Warriors have yet to lose in the preseason.

At 5-0, Golden State leads the NBA. Will such results translate to the regular season?

As everyone invested in this is saying, the preseason isn't the shining example of what to expect for the regular season. However, regardless of the scenario, a team dominating its competition should matter. During the Warriors' 5-0 stretch, they rank third in points allowed and fourth in box score plus-minus.

Considering the various players who missed games during the five games, such statistics speak to the depth of the Warriors. Although the Warriors lost long-time locker room and fan favorite Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks, Mike Dunleavy Jr. did a fantastic job in signing a plethora of players during free agency.

Buddy Hield had quite the performance vs. the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 9, scoring 22 points on 6-7 3-point shooting, which helped set a Warriors record in 3-point shots made.

Although it's only preseason, the team seems to have molded, seemingly, seamlessly fitting as the new players fit the pieces necessary to complement Stephen Curry. Still, most, if not all, teams haven't hit their stride, allowing the Warriors to flourish.

Until the regular season commences, when most teams have a better idea of what they are doing, a five-game winning streak will feel more legitimate. Warriors fans should stay grounded, remembering that it's only an exhibition unless Curry goes off for 50 points in the preseason closeout match vs. the Lakers, then euphoria should ensue.
