Cowboys Fans All Wondering The Same Thing About Belichick

    By Anthony Goss,

FRISCO — The last four times the Dallas Cowboys have taken the field at AT&T Stadium, their opponents have tossed them around. The first occurrence in this ugly sequence came January 14 of last season when the No. 7 Packers trounced the No. 2 Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card round.

Since then, "America's Team" has struggled to recreate the rub that made them a dominant team at home throughout the season, having won all their regular season home games in that campaign.

It also marks the origins of the first real call to action from the fanbase, but action meaning the firing of head coach Mike McCarthy. Each sobering home blowout has made those calls louder.

Since that deflating playoff loss, one name seemingly in constant connection with the Cowboys' job has been Super Bowl champion coach Bill Belichick. He currently has carved a space in the football media world, but has not ruled out a return to the sidelines.

Tuesday, he gave his take on the Cowboys' debacle on his SiriusXM show, “Let’s Go."

“Yeah, it certainly looks like a tough situation down there in Dallas and I'm sure that ownership is very frustrated about not only the start of this season, but the end of last season," he said. "I've always talked about Mike McCarthy, I think he's one of the best coaches in the league... something's gonna have to start happening fast.”

In reality, "fast" may be a bit of an exaggeration here. Of course, the doomsday scenario where the wheels completely fall off this bandwagon exists, but as it stands now McCarthy is a lame-duck coach waiting for the inevitable boot.

A drastic turnaround and Super Bowl appearance could turn that around though this team's limitations are abundantly clear. McCarthy was positioned to fail and there is not much he or his current roster can do to change that.

Belichick has not shared overtly dramatic takes on the Cowboys in his new media space, but has certainly kept tabs on the happenings at "the Star." If he returns to coaching, one would imagine he would have to strongly consider a team with the abundance of top end talent apparent on this roster.
