Texas and Georgia Fight for Projected $369,000 Star Before College Football Clash

The Texas Longhorns are taking on the Georgia Bulldogs in primetime as the major college football news headline of Week 8. Off the field, rumors are swirling that the two programs are squaring off for a five-star recruit who will be in attendance for the marquee matchup Saturday in Austin.

Texas is a 3.5-point favorite versus Georgia in the team's first clash as SEC foes, per FanDuel. The Longhorns are also looking to gain ground on a star defender in the 2025 recruiting class who Georgia has been the favorite to land.

Five-star defensive tackle Justus Terry is ESPN's No. 7 rated overall player in the 2025 class. On3.com's projections give Georgia a 96.3% chance to sign Terry, but Texas is making a late push.

Terry is headed to Austin for an official visit with the Longhorns, giving him the opportunity to watch two SEC title contenders and top-five teams square off.

"Justus Terry is going to Texas this weekend," On3.com's Chad Simmons wrote on Tuesday. "It will be his first time in Austin and the Longhorns just started recruiting him earlier this month. His relationships are in Athens.

"Georgia remains the team to beat, but we expect Texas to make a strong pitch to the Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman out of Manchester (Ga.) this weekend and see if they can quickly become a factor in this race."

Terry is on track to land a lucrative NIL deal with whatever program adds the star defender. On3.com projects Terry's NIL value to be $369,000.

With Terry in attendance, Georgia and Texas are competing for more than a spot in the SEC standings when the two titans clash under the lights.
