Robert Saleh Approached Outside Grocery Store After Jets Firing

It's been over a week since the New York Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh after their 2-3 start to the 2024 NFL season.

The team came into this year with playoff aspirations, and after a little more than three seasons in charge, Saleh was let go by Jets owner Woody Johnson.

A lot has happened since the firing. The Jets played their first game without Saleh, losing to the Buffalo Bills 23-20 on Monday. Then, the team acquired three-time All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday.

Saleh was seen in public for the first time after the Jets' eventful week. On Wednesday, TMZ shared a video of Saleh being approached outside a grocery store, and the person filming questioned him.

Saleh was asked, "How are you feeling after everything this week?"

"Living the dream, brother," Saleh replied.

The videographer asked numerous other questions, but Saleh stayed silent until the final one.

"Can we see you on a sideline soon?" they asked.

It's unclear exactly what Saleh answered. However, based on the videographer's reply, he seemed interested in returning.

"All right," he said. "I like that."

Saleh, 45, is expected to land a job with another team in the future. He's well-respected around the league , and his defenses have been stellar throughout his career.

Before being hired by the Jets in 2021, Saleh spent four seasons as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers.

Saleh finished his tenure as Jets head coach with a record of 20-36. In the meantime, his former defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has taken over as the team's interim head coach.

The Jets will look to right the ship on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
