Heather Dinich's Comments Spark Controversy Over Alabama, SEC Bias at ESPN

The SEC, by and far, is the best conference in college football. They've got the top programs leading the conference, but there is legitimate depth with programs like Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas and more.

Having Alabama and Georgia, two of the most powerful programs, leaves the SEC continually in the conversation to have a National Champion in any given season.

There is a continued conversation about getting more auto-bids to SEC programs, along with the Big Ten, as the two conferences essentially run college football.

However, SEC bias is a real thing. Many different media members will disregard certain aspects in favor of the SEC programs as it pertains to the general narrative around a program or voting on rankings.

With the SEC adding two of the best brands in the sport -- Oklahoma and Texas -- the conference will arguably see even more "bias."

ESPN's Heather Dinich is currently under fire for showing SEC bias in favor of Alabama, who was upset by the Vanderbilt Commodores this season.

Consistently, Vanderbilt is one of the worst teams in the conference. They've had a slight turnaround this season, and it led to one of the best upsets we've seen this season.

Dinich doesn't believe the College Football Playoff committee should hold too much stock in the Crimson Tide's loss.

"At some point, the committee might not consider [Alabama's] loss to Vandy as bad as it seemed at the time. This is a different team under [ Coach Lea] that was able to do something [Ole Miss] could not - beat Kentucky. Vandy is No. 35 in FPI - ahead of Cal, Pitt, Nebraska, Utah," Dinich wrote on social media.

According to most betting sites , the Crimson Tide was a three-touchdown favorite over the Commodores. It was an embarrassing loss for the top-ranked team in the nation.

Should Alabama win out, they'll still make the playoffs, though their ranking will be factored with a brutal loss to Vanderbilt.

Usually, Heather is on the mark with her comments, but not this one. Vandy wasn't ranked when they beat the Tide, and should be penalized for it. We'll see what happens when they lose Saturday's match with the Vols. 🏈 The SEC is wild!!! Georgia vs. Texas!!! It's going to be 🔥🔥
