Slo-Mo of Hailey Van Lith's Lethal Hesitation at Preseason Practice is Turning Heads

After spending just one season in Baton Rouge with the LSU Tigers, college basketball superstar Hailey Van Lith is now donning purple for a new program.

The former five-star guard, who started her career at Louisville, transferred to TCU for her final season. Van Lith will look to help the Horned Frogs build on their historic start to the 2023-24 season. The program set a school record with a 14-0 start before being decimated by injuries, which forced them to forfeit games and have walk-on tryouts to field a team.

Van Lith is looking to bounce back after having the worst statistical season of her career, and based on recent practice footage, she is back to her old self. Van Lith can be seen freezing 6-foot-7 forward Sedona Prince with an effective hesitation before finishing with an off-hand layup. The best part? The video puts her move in slo-mo to truly show how shifty Van Lith got.

The video has over 260,000 views with nearly 18,000 likes and a slew of comments from fans joking about how Van Lith even faked out the camera person. It is evident that there is a ton of excitement around her in Fort Worth.

The hope is that Van Lith, who is coming off an offseason that saw her win an Olympic bronze medal in the 3X3, can re-establish herself as one of the premier scorers in college basketball. In three seasons at Louisville, she averaged over 15 points while grabbing 4.4 rebounds per game. On top of that, she was shooting 42 percent from the field and 33 percent from deep.

In her lone season at LSU, Van Lith's scoring (11.6), rebounds (2.4) and shooting percentage (37.8 percent) each took a hit. Regardless, she still helped LSU advance to the Elite Eight, eventually falling to Caitlin Clark's Iowa Hawkeyes.

According to FanDuel , Van Lith has +21000 odds of winning the Wooden Award, which is tied for eighth-best in the country. She and TCU will open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 11  against Houston Christian.

I would temper expectations, they should have gone after Donyvan Hunter from Oregon State. Longer much more athletic, higher ceiling. HVL needs others to draw attention but I am not sure she can finish consistently. Hoping🙏🏼
