One AFC North franchise might soon receive a respite from harsh winter conditions during late-season home games.

On Wednesday, the Cincinnati Business Courier reported that Hamilton County is exploring a massive renovation of Paycor Stadium, where the Cincinnati Bengals have played their home games since 2000.

According to the Courier, county officials are examining the cost and logistics of adding a dome to the stadium in order to attract events year-round.

It might also benefit Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense.

While the 2019 Heisman Trophy winner has played mostly in open-air stadiums (and performed well) since being selected No. 1 in the 2020 NFL Draft, Burrow has been excellent when playing in domes.

In five career starts in domed stadiums — including retractable domes with the roof closed — Burrow is 127-of-177 (71.8 percent) for 1,235 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Chiefs stadium will always be open. So when the soft teams from warm climates come here during winter games they are at a disadvantage. Chiefs fans get frostbite sometimes, which would be the only good thing about a dome.
