The battle for the 2024 Heisman Trophy is an exciting one as Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter compete for college football's highest individual honor.

Jeanty has put up video-game numbers through Boise State's first six games of the 2024 college football season. The 2023 NCAA rushing leader already has a nation-leading 1,248 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns.

Hunter is continuing his run as a superstar two-way player, taking the field for a ridiculous number of snaps as both a WR and CB. He currently has a nation-leading 49 catches for 587 yards and six touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball, and two interceptions on defense.

2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel recently made a clear choice between these two candidates at this point in the year.

“I think at the end of the day right now, it’s Ashton Jeanty’s race to lose,” Manziel said. “I don’t know what it’s going to take to knock [Jeanty] down. It’s really up to everybody else having to come up and chase him down.”

Hunter suffered a shoulder injury in Colorado's Oct. 12 loss to Kansas State, but he's expected to return for Saturday's matchup against Arizona.

“The one thing [Hunter] needed to do was stay healthy,” Manziel continued. “Missing a game is obviously going to put [Hunter] back a little bit, but it also would probably be a good time to buy. He’s going to have to continue to play well to keep this Heisman run going.”

Jeanty and Boise State will face off against UNLV on Friday night.
