New York Jets owner Woody Johnson stunned the NFL world by abruptly firing head coach Robert Saleh last week. Despite the Jets being 2-3 at the time, and in position to sit atop the AFC East with a win in Week 6, Johnson showed Saleh the door.

"This is one of the most talented teams that has ever been assembled by the New York Jets,” Johnson told reporters. “I want to give the team the most opportunity to win this season, [so] I feel like we had to go in a different direction.'

After naming Jeff Ulbrich as interim head coach, the Buffalo Bills defeated the Jets 23-20 on "Monday Night Football," and fell to third place in the division behind the Miami Dolphins.

While New York hopes reuniting quarterback Aaron Rodgers with wide receiver Davante Adams will keep the season from being a total wash, analysts continue to scratch their heads over Saleh's firing.

During a trip to the grocery store on Oct. 16, Saleh spoke out during his first public appearance since he was unceremoniously canned.  The 45-year-old answered the No. 1 question on everyone's mind: Will he return to coach in the NFL?

"God willing," Saleh told TMZ .

Based on the reactions to Saleh's firing, it would surprise no one if Saleh landed another coaching job, in particular as a defensive coordinator.

Saleh, who won a Super Bowl ring in 2014 while working as the Seahawks defensive quality coach, ignored most of the reporter's questions while walking to his car at a Whole Foods in New Jersey.

However, when he was asked, "How are you feeling after everything this week," Saleh simply replied, "Living the dream."

Saleh will be just fine. The Jets got rid of the wrong guy. The should get rid of Rodgers.
