Davante Adams Reveals Target Date for Jets Debut

"I'll be able to roll on Sunday," is what Davante Adams told reporters following his first practice as a member of the New York Jets.

The star receiver was acquired in a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 15, in exchange for a conditional third-round pick that could end up a second-round pick based on performance. Adams reunites with longtime Green Bay Packers teammate and quarterback Aaron Rodgers in New York. And the two are wasting no time getting to work, with their on-field reunion looking likely for Sunday, Oct. 20.

Adams will look to help the Jets snap a three-game losing streak in a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:20 pm EST. It will be Adams first game active since Week 3 as a member of the Raiders.

Rodgers told reporters that Adams looks to be in great shape after his first practice and ahead of his New York debut. "He's staying with me for the short term, so went right into some of the signals, and he was about 95%," Rodgers told reporters on Oct. 16 . "And he knows the original, to the second iteration, to the third, and on down. His knowledge of the game is pretty extensive. Obviously, he looks like he's dranken the elixir from the fountain of youth as I watched some of his clips."

That's what the Jets will need from Adams. Their offense is ranked 16th in passing yards, 17th in points scored, and 19th in points per game league-wide . Adams will make for a three-man wide receiver corps of established talent, joining Allen Lazard and Garrett Wilson. There are no more excuses for Rodgers and New York.
