Giant Tears! Eagles Left Puzzled By Division Rivals Complaints Toward Saquon Barkley

The New York Giants were never big on giving running back Saquon Barkley the kind of contract the Pro Bowler was looking for in the last few years.

The Philadelphia Eagles, though, were more than happy to oblige.

Barkley's three-year contract in Philadelphia broke just a couple of hours before the start of the legal tampering window. It pushed the Giants into an uncomfortable position.

One that they still aren't exactly over.

"The Giants weren't thrilled that the framework of a deal was reportedly done before the start of the free agent negotiating window," ESPN's Tim McManus and Jordan Raanan reported. "The Eagles didn't understand why the Giants cared considering they weren't making a real push to re-sign the player they drafted No. 2 in the 2018 NFL draft."

ESPN's report has come out days before Barkley makes his return to MetLife Stadium as a member of the Eagles when Philadelphia takes on New York in a NFC East clash.

The comical side to things is the fact that the Giants actually believe Barkley owed them something during his run in free agency. It was New York who opted to not give Barkley a long-term deal, and it was New York who opted to not really push to negotiate with him when Philadelphia's interest was known.

Now, as the Eagles sit at 3-2 and just a half-game out of first place, the reality is simple. New York can be upset all they want, but a big game from Barkley on Sunday will show how short-sighted they have been about the whole situation.
